Horizons Update: Applications and Confirmation Emails
Horizons Update: Applications and Confirmation Emails
Horizons Future Student Leaders Conference 2009 is in about two weeks (!!!), August 14-16th, 2009.
What is it? It's an awesome 3 day, 2 night leadership-based camp held at McMaster University designed for first years; by students, for students. It gives first year students a rare glimpse into university life and a chance to establish life-long friendships, all before the chaos and fun that is Welcome Week! At Horizons, you will get to do experience things like:
- Inspirational Speakers
- Campus-Wide Events
- Night Out in Downtown Hamilton
- Mini Clubsfest
- Meeting Upper-Year Student Leaders
Because of the amount of students applying, it's on a first come first serve basis, so send in your applications ASAP!
All forms must be completed in full with the conference fee and postmarked no later than August 7th, 2009. That leaves you a few days folks! You can check out more details here
If you have already applied for the conference, e-mails have been sent out, so make sure to check your e-mails if you have registered!
Registration will be from 3-4:30pm at Hedden Hall on August 14th, 2009. For driving instructions to McMaster University, check out this site or this one for a campus map. If you plan on arriving early or late, please contact Horizons so that arrangements can be made.
And please remember to bring these essentials to the conference:
- Your Health Card
- Towel, and toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc). Bed Linens are provided already
- Outdoor clothes (although you will be wearing your Horizons T-Shirt for the length of the conference so don't bring TOO much)
- Essential medications (Epi-pen, etc)
Also, remember that this is a substance fee conference and Horizons operates on a zero tolerance policy. Delegates caught under the influence of substances will be sent home at their expense.
Because of a new parking regiment, free parking can no longer be provided. Therefore, please message Chanique Gardener at [email protected] master.ca so that she can tally up the number of people who need parking and try and get a cheaper rate.
If you have anymore questions, you can e-mail Chanique at [email protected] master.ca or call (905) 525-9140 ext. 27685 or check out the Horizons website.
