Humanities
Can anyone tell me specifically which humanities courses are considered as being "easy" or have a less workload. I was considering taking English or Classics or peace studies or philosophy as an elective in me first year but Im not sure how these courses actually are from a student's perspective. All the help will be appreciated! Thank you.

For me, English 1A03 was ridiculously hard but English 1AA3 (taking it right now) is much easier.

Just to let you know, the ease of a course is completely subjective. You'll see people saying a course is easy while other people say that the same course is hard.

Linguistics is a fairly "easy" humanities course, but you do have to do work.

I took english 1A03 and classics 1M03 last year,
english was just as i suspected - a decent amount of reading (it was shorter genres, so that saved time reading-wise), a little online test, and 2 essays both under 1000 words i think.. if you like reading and are good with writing formally etc it should be a breeze.

However, i found classics to be boring. The prof had a way of teaching in this monotone voice which put half of us to sleep, the material was interesting but if its delivered in an unapplealing way it can ruin your interest in it- but thats just me. Tutorials were taken very seriously, meaning attandance was enforced heavily- a lot of group discussion, and talking on your part. There were 5 assignments throughout the term and an 8page essay near the end, A LOT of work in this course for sure!

keep in mind humanities courses require major reading/essay writing- be prepared for the hand cramps lol

In end its up to you because everyone's gonna have different opinions,
good luck !! : )

In terms of workload, Philosophy 1E03 wasn't too bad - just a small 2-page paper every other week, and a final exam.

However, I wouldn't recommend easy classes this way - just take anything you feel you are good at. Simple as 3.1415926535897932384 62..........whatever.

As mentioned, what one considers easy is subjective, based on your skills and your own interests.

I personally hated Philosophy 1D03 (I think it was 1D03), so I only did okay.
I loved CSCT 1B03 and 1BB3 (which are no longer offered), and did well in both.
I took Spanish 1Z06, and did fairly well.
That was it for first year Humanities classes for me...and I have two Humanities undergrad degrees.

I took three first year Indigenous Studies classes (they're considered their own program, not Humanities or Soc Sci)
1A03 was a lot of review for me (I took it in my last year), so I did extremely well. However, I know lots of students who took it without previous knowledge and still did very well.
I took the two Indig. language courses as well: Mohawk was much better than Ojibwe because of how the prof taught, but both languages were still difficult.

Then there were the Soc Sci classes...
