This class is a hit or miss with many students.
The focus of the class is how to evaluate, make, and destroy arguments. The material itself is very interesting if you like to debate. I took the class because I hoped it would help me with my essays (and it did!).

The problem that I had with this class lay mainly with the prof who taught it. Dr. G. Koc. The way she would attempt to explain concepts would end up confusing me more than I was when I read the assigned readings.

The key to doing well in this class is to work with other students and go to the help sessions if you don't understand. A lot of the material may seem like common sense at first but do not make the mistake of thinking that you don't need to study for the course simply because it seems like common sense. The terminology and argument standardization will come back to kick you if you do that.

Course Breakdown:
First Midterm- 25%
Second Midterm- 25%
Final- 50%
* Note that if you want to skip the second midterm completely the precentage will be added to your final grade, making it worth 75% of your final. *
