I'm depressed.
I have zero motivation when it comes to school work lately, I swear it always kicks in a couple of months into school. I feel like sleeping all day and staying in my room.

Help plzzzzz

Yea, strangers aren't gonna be able to tell you how to motivate yourself. We can give you suggestions till the cows come home, but in the end, you know yourself best and you know what makes you happy.

Also, make an appointment at the CSD. Maybe they can help.

I say, do exactly that. Stay in your room for a couple of days and be bored out of your mind. You'll love to study after that. Just make sure not to do anything that excites you or is addicting.

Disclaimer: You will not take legal action against me for giving you this advice if your grades are affected and you end up failing. Keep that in mind.

I disagree... as someone who basically has 1 class a day, 3 days a week, and I end at basically 12:30 the other 2 days, staying in your room and doing nothing is not going to make you want to study more... At least not for me. I have no problem sitting in my room, doing NOTHING at all but watching mindless garbage and creeping FB for days at a time. Doesn't make me want to study more.

These last 2 days are the only time I've tried studying/doing work since the new term started. And that's because I have a midterm tomorrow and Saturday. I work decently well under pressure.

@Thread starter: This is a bit of personal information, but sometimes I can manage to motivate myself by reminding myself that my dad pays for my education, and he's the only person I care about not disappointing in the world.

So yea, I don't know. Think long and hard why you're here.

Honestly, there's not much you can do because we both know getting your degree is bull****. Sure, it's "required" to get a job, but you aren't learning or doing anything you like.

Best thing to do is to just trudge forward, in the mean time (during the time you don't want to work) just make sure you still do acceptably well in University.

Harharhar. Hilarious. Now, do you actually have something constructive to add to the conversation, or no?

Bro, it's your life, you know what's right and what's wrong. I also get demoralized easily, but it is important to study. So you have to make yourself do it whether you like it or not.

You should ask Rakim for help. He seems like he's always enjoying himself.

funny thing depression is (if he has it) you might be the most ambitious and responsible person in the world you just don't have the energy to put your plan into action, try again broski.

I started the year off great, but I've lost all motivation to work as well. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that I want to get into grad school and teachers college and have decent enough grades to be considered for various other opportunities, like exchange programs. I'd never forgive myself if I wasn't able to do those things because I didn't suck it up and just keep moving forward in school.

Do it, for yourself, regardless of whether or not you like it.

Bro I have gone through the shittiest times a person could through. The only way to get out is help yourself out. "God helps those, who help themselves" You have to be optimistic and do what you gotta do. A person on the net can't be much help anyways.

Yes, go to the CSD, don't ask about personal depression problems on a forum - since, in the grand scheme of pertinence (in-forum), "serious" advice on personal problems isn't remotely constructive.

Oh, and I would say "do something you're interested in", but I'd forgotten that universities are degree mills these days, and education is about a job/money/social status, so..."think of being a doctor/lawyer/engineer/CEO/popular public figure" (unlikely, but good motivation, I suppose)
