itunes help!
I'd like to say I HATE itunes, but need to use it so I can use my ipod.

Anyways, as the thread titles states I need some help.

I have gotten rid of some music from my hard drive. But I can't seem to make itunes get rid of the songs I deleted permanently. Every time I open itunes again and/or re-attach my external hard drive (I have lots of music) the song names come up again. It's become a real pain in the ass when entire albums still come up with the exclamation mark in the margin saying itunes can no longer find the song

help? please?

That's how iTunes is, I'm unsure if you can do anything about that. But you don't have to use iTunes with your iPod.

Sometimes, Itunes is awesome. Other times, not so much. :(

I've had this before... but it wasn't easy..

What I did was I synced my ipod, then it gave me all the ones it couldn't find (with the exclamation mark beside it)... Then I manually deleted them.

when you have your ipod connected to you have it set to "auto sync"? because if that box is indeed clicked it means the computer will always have the same songs as the ipod and vice versa. i prefer to have manual sync so i can just put on whatever i want without having my entire music collection go on.

Actually, you can use Winamp for the iPod, and it will do everything that iTunes can. For the other stuff, I don't know, so I can't help.

You don't have to use iTunes for your iPod. I'm sure there's multiple open source (and otherwise) programs that you can use with it.

Thanks! I'll fiddle around the next couple of days and see what I end up with.
