Jean Afficionados
Well, I made a post in the international students' advice thread about laundering jeans, so I might as well start this since I consider myself a bit of a prima donna when it comes to the most versatile pants on the face of the planet: jeans.

Starting in grade 12, I enjoyed the feeling of low-rise bootcuts especially from American Eagle and Levis (527s to be specific). However, in first year, I started noticing definite fray and tears at the bottom of the legs since I wasn't wearing boots on a regular basis and the lowered heights from just wearing casual shoes would drag the legs on the pavement.

So after some trial-and-error, my favourite jean cuts are now the Levis 514 (Slim Straights) and the Abercrombie Remsen (also Slim Straight, coincidentally) both in darker washes (never black) just in case I have to throw on a blazer/dress shirt at the last second for semi-formal events.

However, according to a couple of polls I've read, the perferred cut for many university-aged males is the more roomy bootcut. I suppose I merely prefer a snugger fit around the legs. In my opinion, it makes ones overall appearance a bit sharper.

What are you wearing around your legs these days?

I wear boot-cuts because I'm almost always wearing boots. But this year my boots died so I had to wear sneakers and yes, my jeans are feeling the pain :(. Oh well, going to the States in a couple weeks ^-^

I have some Guess, some Parasuco, and some Boss jeans. I like them all a lot.

Woah.. I don't think I could live without jeans. Not even jean shorts or skirts?

I personally prefer a bootcut jean from american eagle or guess. Once in a while I'll go for a skinny or flare jean but flares are rare.

I wear khakis and Gap cargos
I haven't found a pair of jeans that fit me well enough to be consider "fitted" but don't cut off circulation to my legs.

I'm not very big, but I'm short and I haven't found jeans for short people who aren't thin in the leg.

I'll try at the Gap one day

I don't know how girls do it. Shopping for women's jeans is like 100x harder than shopping for men's jeans.

I'm short too! You gotta look for stores that sell jeans in a shorter length. The ones I usually go to are American Eagle and I've heard that Bluenotes also has them. Gap and Old Navy do too.

Not really, a lot of girls jeans are slightly elastic which means that you have slightly more wiggle room in finding that "perfect fit". Its harder to find guys jeans that fit perfectly, its just that most guys will settle for less than perfect.

I used to be kindof emo, so most of my jeans are quite tight. I have a couple pairs of looser boot cut ones as well though that are more recent.

I wear 514s too but I can never seem to find my size anywhere less than full price. It's like the places that sell it for less have every size but mine and spending almost twice as much for a better fit of the same thing doesn't seem worth it.

LOL same here, I had Nooo idea what Casey was going on about in that post about Jeans in the other thread. I just buy Carpenter cut jeans by Levis or Wrangler or American Eagle from Costco, Winners, USA's Target or Walmart whenever they are on sale. Haven't had that much of a problem with them :S
