This year they accepted more students than they should have, thats why there was a rez issue, they even converted some (or all .. i dk) of hedden double rooms to triple rooms. Stupid McMaster.
Now you go everywhere and there is alot of annoying first years. They bug me.

Its also the first week, so everyone is trying to be good little students and go to every class. It'll die down in a bit for sure.

I was talking to one of the SRA reps and apparently, the government wants Canadian colleges and universities to accept 60,000 more students by 2015 or something :/.
They even converted study rooms in McKay into triples -__-.

The retention rate at McMaster is actually around the mid to high 80%.

Is it that much higher than other universities in Ontario, or Canada overall?

No idea, I don't want to search for all that information. But McMaster's retention rate is 2008 was 87.3%, in 2007 it was 86.2%, in 2006 it was 87.2%. This is only for first years going into second year.
If you want to know the retention rates of other universities you can just google (University) CUDO.
