Know any good Alternative Rock songs?
So I'm always looking for new music to listen to. Right now I'm listening to a lot of alternative rock. Know any good artists in this genre? What are some songs that someone not familiar with the band could easily enjoy. Like gateway songs to the band, lol.
Here's what alternative groups like I enjoy now (in order, favourites at the top)...
- Coldplay
- Snow Patrol
- Mumford and Sons
- Death Cab for Cutie
- City and Colour

I don't know if this is entirely alternative rock; there might be some indie rock, but I'll give you my list anyway:
- Calgary by Bon Iver
- Runaway by The National
- Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks by The National
- Lasso, Lisztomania, Girlfriend, Lost and Found - Phoenix
- The Kook's cover of Pumped Up Kicks
- Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
- VCR, Infinity, Islands, Angels and Crystallized by The XX
- Feel Good Inc, Demon Days, Don't Get Lost in Heaven, Gravity, On Melancholy Hill - The Gorillaz
- The Gorillaz cover of Crystallized
- Kids by MGMT
- The Vitamin String Quartet - not "alternative" or "rock", but they do cover a lot of popular music and I think you might really like their Coldplay covers

The Eels - Hey Man (Now You're Really Living)
John Butler Trio - One Way Road, Used To Get High
Guster - One Man Wrecking Machine, Happier, Careful
Dispatch - The General
Anything by Sam Roberts
NEEDTOBREATHE - The Reckoning
Alternative rock is a pretty vague genre but this is what I've been digging lately.

Yea, it is. I like indie stuff, electric acoustic, ambient. Anything new or different, preferably with some actual meaning behind the music. Unlike most of the stuff out there right now.
