Kung Fury
Has anyone seen this epic trailer. This film reminds of a parody of a Tarantino film that is on steroids. It's so zany and over top and I like the fact how they incorporated a lot of 80s pop culture into this film. The director has a kickstarter campaign and hopes that he can bring this film worldwide. He is one talented and ambitious individual.

Here is the kickastarter campaign

This movie is not only trash, but it knows it's trash, and if a movie is self-aware, it's not as fun to watch.

Only trash movies that are made with intentions to be something amazing are the fun ones. Like the Plan 9, the Room, or Birdamic (only the 1st one).

Tarantino movies are just full of references and are made as homages to old exploitation movies. They themselves are not trash by any means.

To each their own. I went on the kickstarter website and I saw an extended version of the trailer. In that trailer the director talks about how he went about filming this movie and I was mesmerized at how he was able to film it without having a big team. Although this film is bound to win a few razzies, I have to appreciate how ambitious and talented the director is to make this film giving a lack of resources he had.

That might be, but Kickstarter and donations in general encourage laziness, and allows creators to avoid risks.

Here's a good example. Kevin Smith worked late shifts to get those 15k in order to shoot Clerks, and it was a master piece. James Rolfe got over 300k from donations for AVGN The Movie.... 3 years ago.... he still making it.... he did release a trailer tho... that looks like shit, and there's no telling if the movie ever gets released, and at this point, most of the people who donated will lose interest. Oh and he also gets to charge for tickets, making money off something made on donation money.

KingFury looks like they just got every single thing about the 80s and early 90s, like Nintendo, a T-Rex, and cop movies, threw them in a blender and decided to make the most ridiculous movie ever. If you really like neo-80s movies, I suggest Drive. It's an actual movie.

With regards to Kickstarter donations being an avenue for creators being lazy and not taking huge risks I agree with you for the most part. I mean just look at Shaytards and how he ebegged his fans to donate to his $250 000 campaign to make a documentary on vlogging. Vlogging?! Are you kidding me?

But in this instance I feel as though its justified because if you look at the second link I posted, the director said that the film is almost complete and he needs the donations to completely polish the film (e.g. hiring animators and 3D graphics specialist to add the finishing touches) and to make this film be played worldwide in theaters.

That's your opinion and I completely respect that but I just want to ask you if you have any guilty pleasures in life? I will admit that my guilty pleasure is watching Jackass. Even though the show is tawdry and vapid I laugh hysterically when they commit to their stupid stunts.

As for your recommendation on watching Drive, I will definitely consider watching it. Thanks
