Personally I find a nice slate and a chisel are better since they're less likely to smudge or be destroyed.

Plus you get a killer workout from lugging them around.

Pencil + paper + clipboard. I've never even bothered trying to use a computer for taking notes, I just can't imagine it being anywhere near useful when there are diagrams and symbols to take down. I also tend to sort of annotate my notes as I go, which really wouldn't work too well on a computer. Plus, doodling is way easier this way.

Wouldn't this be much easier on a computer?

I guess it'd depend on how you annotate exactly. I write little snippets off to the side and then circle it and draw an arrow to what it's relevant to, which I don't imagine would be easier to do with a keyboard and trackpack.

I've handwritten all my notes.

Chem - wrote directly on the printouts WHEN I printed them out. Otherwise, wrote in a notebook and that worked out very well too. I advise printing posted notes before relevant lectures, or at least not scrambling to transfer notebook notes to printed notes one week before the exam.

Bio - See above. >.>

Maths - all handwritten, and it worked for me. Especially in the first term, where I would re-write the notes and had them arranged all prettily.

Physics - I didn't take any notes. D: Barely, actually, maybe just the first few classes. I studied mainly out of the textbook.

Psych - handwritten.

Then again, I did have computer problems that prevented me bringing my laptop to class, so...

Computers are pretty tough to take math notes with. You shouldn't find them too bad for less mathematical disciplines (biology, etc.)

For math and science courses, I don't think you'll be able to use your laptop very much for taking notes. With formulas/diagrams and all that, it will be tricky. You'll save yourself a lot of hassle and time if you just usa pen and paper.
Laptops are good for arts courses though (like History, Political Sci, etc). I normally like to use pen and paper because it's a pain to lug around my laptop everyday. But if you're going to be taking it to school anyway, it's good for courses where profs talk A LOT.

I only typed my Bio1M03,Psych 1xx3 and French 1A06Lecture notes using Microsoft Office OneNote.
With math and Chem I wrote them by hand because it I found it easier that way.

I prefer to write lecture notes on my computer, and write tutorial notes/any graphs during the lecture in a notebook. It was a really easy way to keep all my notes organized and neat.
