Botfly larvae removal is just nasty.

As a side note, there's a type of wasp that lays eggs in caterpillars so when they hatch they basically eat their way out of the caterpillar.

They spend many many years buried under ground, and when they're ready, they come out to mate in the summer. You know those loud constant buzzing sounds you hear in the trees during the hot days of summer? (You know what I'm talking about, especially if you're from the country/small towns). Those are cicadas, and once they die, you'll see them lying there, often on the side of the road where their bodies have been blown.

They're harmless and perfectly normal... you just don't tend to see them since they live in the tops of trees and only come out in the hottest days of the summer... that's why they seem so unusual.

I understand that there's a possibility that I'm wrong, but I'm about 99% sure that the dead insects you're finding are cicadas. (yay ecology!)

I think we do have those at school, because I hear them in the trees. But that's not what I'm talking about. The bugs I'm seeing look more like bumblebees than beetles.

It's hard to explain. But I know I'm not crazy! A few girls from work said they have seen the dead bugs too.
