scrobbling (tracking music listens), artist recommendations, event recommendations etc. are still free. I don't pay, just use it as a vehicle to find new artists etc.

Yeah, only downside is its hard to find the new artists' songs, since they usually aren't even on youtube; good alternative to listening to the radio
