scrobbling (tracking music listens), artist recommendations, event recommendations etc. are still free. I don't pay, just use it as a vehicle to find new artists etc.

Although it doesn't scrobble my ipod that accurately, here is mine:
I really used to like thesixtyone for finding new artists, the website is prettier now but harder to navigate imo.
grooveshark radio is nice. Sometimes songs are mislabeled but it isn't a big issue.
Gonna look up 8tracks!

Yeah, only downside is its hard to find the new artists' songs, since they usually aren't even on youtube; good alternative to listening to the radio
