Life Sci II
Hey Guys,

I'm in first year life sci, and am really confused as to what I should choose as my field of study next year. What are the pros and cons of choosing a more general program like Hons Life sci/Hons bio versus something like Biochem, Mol Bio, etc.? Any help would be much appreciated

pros of life sci are that you can take pretty much anything you want for the next 3 years of your undergrad so it can be easier to get a higher gpa for professional schools. in life sci because of the ability to take anything you want. in honours bio and biochem, you get a ton of electives also. i dont know much about mol bio 3rd/4th year but 2nd year is the same as bio for it. its best to check the undergrad calender to see what courses are required for each program to get an idea of what you will be taking.

Definitely look at the required courses for each program, but also take a look at courses that you want to take whether they're required for a certain program or not. Since some courses aren't open to people registered in certain programs, if there are a lot of courses you want to take that you won't be allowed to if you're in program X, then maybe program X isn't such a good one to pick.
