The Life Science Society has several exec and rep  positions available for the 2012/2013 school year. Please refer to the positions  and descriptions listed below for more information. If you are interested in  applying for a position, please fill out the correct application form and email  it to

  Positions  Available :
Role: Promotions Reps
- 4  reps will be selected
- Must be 
enthusiastic and comfortable  with 
public speaking
- Will 
not be responsible for  attending exec meetings
- Will report to 
VP Marketing
- Must attend  weekly meetings scheduled by VP Marketing
- Will be charged with 
all  classroom announcements
- Will be responsible for helping regulate our  Facebook, Twitter, MacInsiders accounts (along with VP Communications)
- Will  be responsible for posters, banners and any other promotions-related tasks, for  
all events
Role: Advocacy  Reps
- 3 students will be selected
- Will report to VP's  Academic
- Will be part of a team that advocates for change within the Life  Science program
- Will work in conjunction with Dr. Dej, Dr. Chow-Frasier,  and Sarah Robinson in order to apply for long-term funding from the Academic  Science Fund (ASF) by December 15th, 2012
- Will use different means to  survey Life Science students, and determine what they are looking for to improve  upon their Life Science courses:
- E.g.  wet/dry/virtual labs for Life Sci 2A03, anatomy courses for Life  Science-specific students etc...
-  Will make use of petitions, surveys etc., to project the notion that Life  Science are united for change
- Will be included in meetings with the LS  program coordinator and the Dean in order to see these changes  through
This is a wonderful opportunity to network, and be a part of a  group whose purpose is to affect change within the Life Science faculty for  current and future students. 
Role: Liaison (Exec  Position)
To act as a correspondent between the McMaster Life  Science Society and the Science Society.[/size]
- Will relay 
our agenda to  the Science Society as well as relay theirs to us
- Will take their own  meeting minutes at Science Society meetings and relay this information back to  our exec
- Will be responsible for checking our new, shared folder with the  Science Society on DropBox & relaying any necessary  information
Role: VP Finance (Exec  Position)
- Will be responsible for all correspondence  with sponsors, on top of regular financial duties 
- Must be very effective  at time management in order to respond promptly to e-mails from sponsors
-  Must be very mindful when sending out e-mails to sponsors to ensure that we  project the right image of our society and maintain strong bonds with all  sponsors
- Will be provided with a bank of past e-mails to aid in formulating  new e-mails for next year
Role: VP Social (Exec  Position)
- 2 positions available - will work together as a  collaborative pair
- Must be creative, enthusiastic, and work well in  teams
- Will be responsible for planning and executing social events to help  connect students to one another, and to bring awareness to our society
- Will  work closely with VP's Fundraising
Role: VP Fundraising (Exec  Position)
- 1 position available - will work alongside a current  exec member
- Must be creative, enthusiastic and work well in teams
- Will  plan and execute events of a social & charitable nature in order to raise  funds for our society's respective charity organizations
- Will work  collaboratively with VP's Social and VP Finance to ensure all funds are  accounted for[/size]
