Limits of Peacekeeping & Humanitarian Intervention in the Age of Human Rights

On Wednesday November 25th, 2009, McMaster Science for Peace will be holding its first installment of a lecture series from 5:30 - 6:30 PM in HSC 4E20. Signs will be posted on the fourth floor of the health sciences building at the purple elevators to direct you to the room.
Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh from the Department of History and Director for the Centre of Peace Studies

Topic: “Who will protect us from those who want to protect us?": The Limits of Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Intervention in the age of Human Rights

Refreshments and snacks will be provided at the event.

Directions:

Easiest way:
Go through main entrance of hospital. When you enter the hospital, turn right and go to the YELLOW elevators. Take it to fourth floor. Then walk straight (I think about 100m) and the room is on your left. There are also lots of signs around labelled 4E rounds room.

Through Ewart Angus (underneath Health Sciences Library). Take the elevators to fourth floor, and immediately turn left when you get out. Then turn left through the white doors. Keep walking until you're forced to turn,then turn right. Keep walking straight until you enter the YELLOW section. Then turn right and the room is the first room on your left (again when you reach the Yellow section there will be signs

Sounds like those who are interested in this event may also be interested in another lecture this Thursday night by Hillel Neuer of UN Watch.

The event itself is being hosted by a whole bunch of groups, and is titled "From Eleanor Roosevelt to Qaddafi: The Rise and Fall of Human Rights at the UN".

Seems like it's a related topic. Thurs Nov 26, 7:30pm in HSc 1A6.

It looks super interesting, Amnesty's been promoting that event recently.
