Looking for a Job?
Hey everyone,

My name's Andrew and I'm a Multimedia student going into my 4th year. I wanted to let you all know that the McMaster Annual Fund Phone Program is hiring for the Summer. We're a group of students who raise money for McMaster University's various programs. It's an awesome job for students because:
  • It improves your networking and "soft" skills
  • We have a great environment, reasonable hours, and many opportunities for advancement
  • Most of the money we raise goes right back to students in the form of Scholarships and Bursaries, so you're returning the favour for the financial help you received
  • We're all McMaster students
  • Employees get lots of chances to build contacts both inside and outside the University
If you're interested, contact Natraj Ramachandran at:

:telephone: 905.525.9140 extension 24617
:envelope: ramachn @ mcmaster . ca (minus the spaces)

Thanks,

-Andrew

You need to speak clearly and effectively, be persuasive, fluent in English, and enthusiastic about McMaster and fundraising. The position begins at $10 per hour.

The position is at the McMaster Downtown Centre, at 50 Main St E.
It's right near Gore Park and the GO Station. You're advised to send in a resume/cover letter, but don't be discouraged if your resume isn't 400 pages. We're looking for people with the skills for the job, not the long list of accolades.

If a resume is 400 pages long they're doing it wrong

Not submitting a cover letter for every position you apply to puts you at a disadvantage. That's why it's required on OSCAR. It's meant to help you market yourself so that you will be successful. Always send a cover letter. Always.

Infinity says thanks to ferreinm for this post.

That is true; I'm sure most employers would stop reading your resume at about page 150 or so.

Oh I was hoping it was around campus. I guess we need to buy that bus pass then which is costly. How long does it take to bike to downtown?

Couldn't tell you, sorry! I haven't picked up my bike since high school. According to Google Maps, it's 4.4 km from campus to the Downtown Centre, so you could do the math if you knew how fast you ride.

On a Random note, 400/150 page resumes...seriously?

I did my best to confine my resume to one page because I heard apparently that employers like it if they can easily go through your experience/key quality buzzwords etc in one go.

It's like a 5-7 minute trip from the Student Centre bus stop on a normal day. Same stop as the one to get off at Jackson square.
