Hello,
On behalf of McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences, we would like to invite people of South Asian origin (originating from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh) between ages of 18-60 to participate in a study to determine the accuracy of body composition measurement techniques.
Why is this study important?
In Canada it appears that people of different ethnic origins have different risk factors for type-2 diabetes and heart disease. Specifically, while overweight and obese Canadians of European origin are at high risk for both diabetes and heart disease, Canadians who originate from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Pakistan are at an even higher risk for these conditions. Discovering accurate techniques to determine percent body fat in this high risk population will help us in our future research studies.
Benefits to you:
If you agree to participate in this study, you will receive FREE personalized percent body fat results measured by BOD POD (which usually costs $50 - $60 at other places). I have attached a sample test report so that you can get a better idea of what information you can get from this test. We will also cover for your parking expenses and provide you with snacks when you come for the test.
Your Commitment:
You will need to make a short 20 minute visit for the testing to our clinic in Hamilton General Hospital between now and February 2012. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are interested please PM me or email me at

Thank you!
