Different colour sticker every year so the HSR drivers know you're still a student and not using previous year's sticker.
Just got mine in the mail today (I'm Third year). I think it's orange this year.

Aw, didn't get mine yet... but my confirmation letter was printed on the 4th so it should be soon.

Lol, that's alright. Kind of weird that it's orange, is it much brighter than the red? By the way, when was your confirmation printed?
