Personally, I think it's a balance of both. But in my mind mental health issues are not being dealt with properly in North America, both socially, medically, and otherwise.

you are right. hopefully a better change will happen soon before anything terrible happens again. although i doubt it :/

.... yes because gun control is not an issue at all... mental health isnt going to solve anything. no matter what measures the world takes, there will always be people born into society that just want to watch it burn for their amusement. You cant prevent crime, its part of our society and nothing will change that as long as mankind continues on

I completely disagree. I don't think this man was destined in life to kill his family and himself. If he had some treatment he may have been able to come with the challenges that faced him in a much more productive way.

if you ban guns people will still find a way to get them no matter what, but if you treat the root cause of the problem that is better. and no i didn't say this will stop crime forever, some people are a hopeless case but you can't say mental care will not solve anything ... how do you know that ?

I like the idea of better mental health care but, would these people seek the help? Thats an issue in my mind but, no doubt the resources will help many people. Even social workers at a young age will defiantly help.

I think it starts in education. Teaching people to get help. Teach it like sex education.
