Oh God. Ann Arbor is too close to Detroit for my liking. Will they even sell tickets to the general public? I know that tickets to this year's Winter Classic in Philadelphia weren't on sale to the general public.
I'm still waiting for a Winter Classic at the 'Dome.

That's not likely to happen for a long time... considering Toronto's doing it this coming year, it'll be a while until they do it again, and even then there's still a 50/50 chance that it'll be in T.O.

this is so dumb, the fan base in both these cities is large. Why not try to rope in more fans for an up and coming team with a less established fan base?

this event is all about getting revenue. if you put a team like columbus or phoenix in the winter classic with high ticket prices, none of their fans are going to buy them. they are having a hard time selling regular season tickets already. nhl is certainly not going to lower ticket prices to satisfy teams with small fan bases.

They can't host the game in one of the teams' respective cities because that would be like favouring one over the other. They have to keep the location neutral.

So how does this work, do they throw the puck to a guy outside the rink to get a touchdown?
