Math 1LS3 Questions - Textbook
Hey
For Math 1LS3.. I've got my Calculus for the Life Sciences textbook but Titles also lists these under optional:
- Module #1(MODULE # 1 - FUNCTIONS OF SEVERAL VARIABLES: CALCULUS FOR THE LIFE SCIENCES - MODELLING THE DYNAMICS OF LIFE)
and
- Module #2 (MODULE # 2 - PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS: CALCULUS FOR THE LIFE SCIENCES - MODELLING THE DYNAMICS OF LIFE)

I'm a bit confused... What are modules? :| Would you guys recommend it - I don't mind buying them. I'll just have to find someone selling them I suppose.
But what are they for? And are they recommended? :/

I'm guessing the modules are the optional assignments. If they're the same thing that we had to buy last year, then the package will include assignments for each chapter. Questions on the Tests last year, came directly from the package. The textbook wasn't useful. Another thing, the solutions of these modules (assignments) will be posted online. So you'll have the questions posted online, but with solutions written all over it. If they're optional I wouldn't recommend buying them until the first week of class & see what the Prof has to say.

The two modules are for the second calculus course, Math 1LT3, in addition to chapter 7 of the textbook. 1LS3 covers Chapters 1-6 from the Adler/Lovric textbook. If you plan on taking 1LT3 I recommend buying all three, because Titles ran out of the modules in Term 2 and some of my colleagues waited a month for them to restock.

I bought the text (did not crack it open once) - just mastered the problems we did in class (including the examples she did not go over on the slides), and did the assignments many times through (until I could complete them with confidence; i.e.: without looking at solutions). I got a 12. Professor Erin Clements is AMAZING. Very good professor, easy to deduce what she is thinking for test-type questions.

Afsha-noon says thanks to L_Blankfein for this post.

You don't really need to the sol'n manual because the textbook already comes with answers to every other questions. So just do the questions that have answers to them

^This is correct. The modules are not the assignments! They're just thin textbooks which contain content covered in LT3, not LS3.

Should I not buy anything for this course if my prof is Lovric?
