The advice I got was that if you're planning on taking math in the future, then 1A03 is better prep. But if not, then 1M03 would be fine. But I believe 1M03 is only for those registered in HUmanities or Social Science. If you're in science, you'd have to take 1A03 or 1LS3. In my opinion, your marks are great, but it depends on whether or not you want to continue with math

Math 1A03 is mostly if you want to get a math minor along with your commerce degree. But if it's anything like last year, it'll fill up pretty quickly... =/

Given your grade 12 marks, 1M03 wouldn't give you too much trouble.

That said, if you're unsure of whether you want a math minor or not, if you get a 10 (A-) or higher in 1M03 it could be considered the equivalent of 1A03.

[I forgot where I heard it from, but supposedly 1A03 is more intensive but there's slightly more stuff in 1M03 (disclaimer: I don't know how reliable this statement is)]

Given your high school grades, just take Math 1M03 and ace it.

Otherwise if you plan to minor in math, you have to take 1A03.

That's only for Math 1LS3. It does not apply to Math 1M03.

Not according to the 2009/10 calendar >_>

(and I swear my academic advisor mentioned it in that July session before I started first year but I was barely paying attention... 8D)

Math 1M03:

Integral calculus of polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions. Optimization problems. Applications in the Social Sciences and Business.
Three lectures, one tutorial; one term
Prerequisite(s): One of Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors U, Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus U, MATH 1F03 or 1K03

Students considering upper year mathematics courses should take MATH 1A03. Not open to students with credit or registration in ARTS&SCI 1D06, ISCI 1A24, MATH 1A03, 1LS3, 1N03, 1X03, 1Z04.
It doesn't mention anything about Math 1A03 (Other than the fact that if you want to take upper year math courses you need to take Math 1A03)

Math 1LS3:

Topics from differential and integral calculus, differential equations, discrete math, chosen for their relevance to the life sciences.
Three lectures, one tutorial; one term
Prerequisite(s): One of Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors U, Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus U or MATH 1F03

Not open to students with credit or registration in ISCI 1A24, MATH 1A03, 1M03, 1N03, 1X03, 1Z04. Students with a grade of at least A- in MATH 1LS3 may use it as a substitute for MATH 1A03 for prerequisites and for consideration to a Level II program for which MATH 1A03 is normally required.

Oh, I was looking more at the part where it says:

Math 1A03 CALCULUS FOR SCIENCE I

[...]
Not open to students who have achieved a grade of at least 10 in MATH 1LS3 or 1M03.

and

MATH 1AA3 CALCULUS FOR SCIENCE II

[...]
Prerequisite(s): MATH 1A03 or 1X03; or a grade of at least 10 in MATH 1LS3 or 1M03

Most 2nd year maths after that require 1AA3 anyways.

(EDIT: on a side note, does it bug anyone else that you can't copy-pasta anything from the calendar since it takes the formatting with it? I tried and when the red border/white text showed up on the editor I was like "wtf!?")

Oh, that's weird... I guess you're right! I never thought of looking at Math 1AA3.

Edit: Yeah, I just copy and paste, post and then edit it.

Yeah the calendar could use some refining =/

I took a course first term summer school that was listed in the calendar and it wasn't until late (edit)June that I found out it wasn't actually required... >:
