Math profs seem to fall on the ends of the good/bad spectrum. I've had (or stalked lololo) some awesome profs, but others I've also experienced/heard about have been the worst I've ever had.
On the good end, you've got Childs, Yazinski, Clements <3, Bernardo, McLean, and Lovric, but on the other side you've got Atena, Sarr, Protas, Kovarik, Yapalparvi, and Gabardo.
Oh, almost forgot.

Well, at least you guys have got some really brights spots. So far my subjects seems to be a full spectrum of kinda-ok-not-brilliant-meh profs... except Dej and Jacobs.
Not to mention how ridic **** the bio department is in general. Do you know how impossible it is for me to see an exam?
And then you have Chem, horrible subject but awesome admin, coming out with "Let Terry know you want to see. We'll tell you when the room's open and have someone there to talk with..."

The thing is that most of these profs are 'good' for the math for science/eng courses - there's only one or two that teach math above the first-year level, and it's the same one or two that teach math to math students. Clements and McLean exclusively teach first-year science and engineering students, actually.
Math as taught to science/eng students is very different from math taught to math students - science/eng math is about solving, while (real) math is about analysing. So yeah, a lot of math profs will be terrible teaching science/eng courses & excellent for math courses.

Anyone have friends at other universities that have been complaining about something or other like strikes/administration/professors/IT in the last year or so?

Depends, I suppose. UoT students complain all the time, Queen's students are too busy shouting school slogans to hear the question

From my friends feedback, Western also has "hot white girlz".
