McMaster Agendas
Hey!
Since school is starting I'm thinking of buying agendas... I've heard from previous years that they gave free agendas along with some other free stuff?! Is that still happening ?

They probably will but the free one they give out is bloated with ads (about half of it is ads) which makes it thicker than it should be and overall it's pretty big to carry around (imo).
If you don't mind this, then it's great and they'll likely be handing them out again along with the calendar and whatever else there was (I've forgotten already >_<)
As to when exactly they will be giving them out, I have no idea.

You could rip/cut off most of the ads though. They sell an actual one in Titles without advertisements.

I did this and then the rings were too big for the small number of pages left T_T

I ended up making a word doc - with a To Do List for each subject.
The MSU erasable whiteboard calendar is dead useful for tracking down midterm/lab/assignment/quiz due dates.
A useful alternate to the whiteboard calendar is typing the due dates into a word doc/pdf calendar template. That way you can have everything organized at your computer.
For me agendas weren't helpful (even though they worked well in high school) because in uni you don't get daily homework to write about. You pretty much set your own pace in doing practice problems and making notes from lecture notes.

I think they give out the agendas at clubsfest along with the MSU bag and the calender.
I had a physical agenda last year that I bought at wal-mart, but it ended up becoming useless, because I didn't have room in my bag to bring it with my every day ~__~
I tried to use apps on my ipod for a while, but that was also annoying. Lately I've just settled for using this website called "Teuxdeux". It's really simplistic, has a iphone app it automatically syncs to, and I hope it'll work out for me this year.

I love the website! It's exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!

Using a calendar that sinks with your smartphone is probably the most convenient, but I also used to rip out the adds at U of T (they were also 90% ads)

I last year I bought one from Indigo (I love it so much). As said above, the one they give you kind of sucks.
As for the giant calendar...I tried using it for like a month but I found it didnt work for me. Instead I just bring out a month at a time on regular paper, and write everything on there and pin it right in front of me at my desk.

The ones they give out for free during Welcome Week are pretty crummy in my opinion. They are full of ads. If you're broke, it's a good way to get a free one.
If not, Titles sells lots of agendas, most under $12. Walmart probably sells them for under $5.

i used to use an agenda all through highschool, so i bought one from walmart for university (for like $3).. i ended up using it for a week then never using it again, for me i found that having an agenda with a week by week schedule was too confusing, since a lot of assignments i got in uni werent due within the same week like in highschool. instead i got one of the huge desk calendars where i could see a month at a time, then i could look at everything at once.. thats what happened to me at least!
but anyways to answer your question.. they sell agendas and wall calendars at titles, or you could go to walmart where itd be a bit cheaper.. or they give both out for free during welcome week, but theyre not the best quality/theyre covered in ads!

As others had said, the agenda the MSU gives out is crappy because it's full of ads and the large dry erase calendar you get is great, it's got 4 months on one side of it. So if you want a good agenda I'd say pick up a cheap one at Walmart.
