The Lipdub has nothing to do with the MSU or SRA. It was being organized by students at large who know/are friends with SRA members. Actually, now that I remember it had several members of the IRC executive on their Exec.
And secondly I was wondering if you could elaborate on your comment about MSU/SRA delaying stuff? If you are referring to the often misunderstood Google Delays, here's a basic Summary:
-I brought up the idea to the Chief Information Officer of UTS in January of 2010
-Myself and current MSU President MDL did some research, brought someone in from a company that did the integration of Gmail for schools and passed a policy saying the MSU supported a cloud based email system in Feb 2010
-In May of 2010 began conversations with university admin about it with the new policy
-Over the summer met with reps from Google/Microsoft
-Held a survey in Oct of 2010 where 3500 students voted (70% for Google)
-UTS then began contract negotiations between Google and McMaster
-Google did not dedicate their legal team to the issue until August
-McMaster and Google went back and forth over the contract
Contract was finalized last week finally.
The turnaround period for any MSU work on this was no more that 8 months, in between myself and MDL had to convince a skeptical SRA, Administration, Student Body and deal with quite a few bureaucratic issues before finding an opportune time to run that survey. Anything that happened after that was out of our hands.
