Minor in another program outside your faculty?
Hi I want to possibly do a minor in communications. I am not in Humanities Faculty but I wondering 2 things:

1) If I wanted to minor in the program but most of the pre-requisite Communication Studies courses require me to be administered into the program.... who would i have to contact to grant me permission or to see if attaining a minor in Communications is possible?

2) Also, does keeping first year textbooks/courseware helpful to keep if you're continuing in a particular subject area ...just in case ?

It is possible to minor on something outside your faculty. I've done that actually before switching to my current program.

1) in terms of taking courses in Communications lets say, you are limited of taking courses in the program. You can take courses in communications that doesn't require you to be in the program. There's bound to be some. But if you really want to take courses that requires you to be in the program then yes, you have to grant permission to take it.

2) Yup, it sometimes help to keep first year textbooks but it's not necessary.

I did a minor in music when I did my undergrad in biochem. It was just something I wanted to do, but in the end it didn't really "help" me in any real way.
