Hey I was wondering how this course was in terms of difficulty and course breakdown. I was planning to take it in summer school. David Ogborn is teaching this course! I would really appreciate it! THANKS!

Hi,
I took the course almost 4 years ago during my first year and for me it was a really easy course. However the course has been changed dramatically so may be different now. I found Dr.Ogborn pretty good and his tests to be easy and had him for 4 other courses. If your interested in learning a bit of Photoshop and Web design along with theory then you should definitely take this course .

I took it this semester with Dr.Ogborn, it's pretty easy. Though some complain that the exam is hard and the tutorials aren't helpful. It just depends on how much you apply yourself.
There are 3 assignments. The first one is observation, where you have to capture something in 5 different states using audio or photography. The second you use audio or video and alter the timing to distort the final product. The third one you use coding to make something generative or interactive (like a game). Each are worth 20%
Exam is 100 multiple choice questions, mostly related to lectures and readings and its worth 30%

I took this last summer with the same professor. The course was alright. We had 3 projects. the first was a project based on observation, second we had to play around with time and third was a coding project. not difficult, and he's a easy going prof. easy to talk to. the exam was fine as well. just review all your notes.
gives you a good opportunity to be creative and learn

Re-reading the original post should answer your question.

the outline only says you coded in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. But in which programs did you use to work with audio, video and images. Also, I heard that this course is a lot of theory rather than actually getting creative, is that true???

Im in it right now, we've used Gimp, Audacity, Blender, Supercollider, and Processing so far. For the summer school class usually 1.5-2 hours of the 3 hr class is lecture and then the remaining time is for playing around with the program presented that day. The projects really give you the most opportunity for creativity though, I'm really enjoying it so far!

I took the course when I was at Mac. Graduated with a combined Multimedia and Communications degree. MMEDIA 1A03 is a pretty enjoyable course if you enjoy being creative with computer software.
Here's 20 reviews from past students:
