Mr. Bidet: A McMaster Student's Artistic Escape
Mr. Bidet: A McMaster Student's Artistic Escape
By Danielle Lorenz

When you think of bidet, you think of a clean bottom. But this bidet is not in any way, shape, or form clean. Mr. Bidet is the band of fourth year Environmental Studies and Geography student, Joe Howe. Consisting of four other members from their hometown of Brantford, Mr. Bidet formed towards the end of 1999. Joe gives the band vocals, Banger lends back-up vocals and guitar, Goody Punk also provides guitar and back-up vocals, Boozer plays bass, and Pete is the drummer. They express their sadness to those with hemorrhoids in the ear, which they say is a common side-effect to listening to their music. Note the dirtiness I mentioned earlier.

With influences coming from the likes of NOFX, Rise Against, Belvedere, Lagwagon, Good Riddance, Strung Out, Mad Caddies, and Propaghandi, the group is self-proclaimed as skull-crushing punk rock. After recording their debut EP Burn This Disc and We’ll Burn Your House Down in 2003, the band started developing a loyal following. Four years later, Mr. Bidet has developed more fans and is near completion of their first full-length album.

Currently on a Back-To-School tour, Mr. Bidet is looking to expand their growing fan base. Interested in learning more about the group? Check out their Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/misterbidet. Better yet, come see them on tour!

They are playing with Brat Attack, Corporation, The Larsonists, DAC, and Hold Up Your End on August 25th at Bottoms Up in Brantford. September 6th the boys are heading to the Kathedral in Toronto to play the Underdogs Showcase with Echo Generation, Way of Life, Ever End, Loaded, Intransit and Hard Shell Invader, as well as some special guests.

These guys are definitely not to be missed, as crazy antics always ensue! One such event includes the time Joe played the set in a kilt and with a bagpipe on hand. And no, I have NO idea why he chose to do this. I'm pretty sure he was sober at the time too. After this tour the guys are going to take a bit of time off, Joe is going to attempt to do some school work, and in the not-too-distant future they will be on the road again.

If anyone is interested in picking up a copy of their CD, send me a private message. I just got a copy and it's freaking sweeeet.
