I was thinking about deferring the Bio 1A03 midterm so I was just wondering, for MSAFs, do we fill it up after we missed the test or before?

Doesn't matter. You can do it before, but you're supossed to wait in case you don't get better (because you were sick) and need more assignments deferred in the next couple days too.

But I'm assuming you're not actually sick, so just do it a few hours before and email the prof or course IA listed in the outline to get a confirmation of recieving the MSAF as well as make sure to ask whether there is a make-up date for an alternate write, or the % added to the final exam.

Save it for when you actually might need to use it (when you're actually sick?).

Realistically if you get sick you can always get a doctor's note and deal with the Associate Dean's office for your faculty. Just because you've used your MSAF doesn't mean that you've screwed yourself in the future.

To me, it's a "get out of jail free card".

Bottom line if you are using MSAF for something besides being sick/personal issues then for the love of god get the hell out of university. This isn't grade 8 grow up and take responsibility.

It has come to my attention that a student of yours by the name of Terence Cheung has posted on an online public McMaster forum asking about how to get out of doing your upcoming midterm for Biology 1A03. He is attempting to circumvent it using the frequently abused MSAF system. Terence is likely in good health and just does not feel like studying, as he should be.

I, like many others on the forum, strive to ensure the integrity of MSAF system for those students who actually have valid reasons for missing assigned work and examinations by reporting those who actively seek advice on how to abuse the system.
