Rudeness unnecessary.

When you rename a file by right clicking and selecting rename, I never knew you could also change the file format. For renaming pictures and stuff, the name of the picture would get highlighted in blue and you'd change that. The extension doesn't show up. When I was renaming these files, the part after - containing .dat or .Id2 - also showed up.

If I understand how this works correctly it does not necessarily change the file type when you rename the extension, it just changes what the computer thinks the file type is, hence why windows warns you changing an extension may cause the file to become unstable. Bad analogy time: You can call a cat a dog all you want but it's still a cat in the end. Sure it'll work if the two file types are very, very similar, but you can't do magic things like turning a movie into a picture by changing the file extension. When I say really similar I mean that it's really the same file but it's just been renames for programming purposes. For example I just tried changing .jpg into a .gif and a .png. Believe it or not all I did was create 2 corrupted image files.

I'm sorry but there's something called Google that would've answered your question faster.

Oh, my bad, didn't know you couldn't read.

I wrote that I tried Googling in the very first post. -.-'
And evidently, making this thread turned out to be very helpful since I got the answer I was looking for.
Maybe you should stop posting here if you're not going to contribute to the purpose of this thread.

D: I haven't done that in a while. Thanks for reminding me. And yes, that is exactly it. But I only do it in unimportant threads. D:

Anyway...i wasn't being a jackass really...I was honestly asking how he held himself from laughing at that.
