The nomination period for the MSU Presidential Election ends on January 9, 2019 at 5 PM.
All MSU members (students enrolled in 18 or more units) are able to nominate themselves for the position. Nominees must use the Presidential Election Nomination form, which requires 15 signatures of MSU members, and submit the form to the MSU Main Office (MUSC 201) by the January 9 deadline. Forms can be found at
www.msumcmaster.ca/elections or as hard copies inside the MSU Main Office in MUSC 201.
The all-candidates meeting will take place on January 9, 2019. The campaigning period will occur from January 13 until January 24, 2019. During this time frame, there is a Meet & Greet on January 15, from 6 - 8 PM at TwelvEighty, as well as a debate on January 17, from 3 - 5 PM in MUSC atrium. Online voting will take place during the final three days from January 22 - 24, closing on 5PM on the last day. Students will vote by logging in with their MAC ID at
www.msumcmaster.ca/vote.
The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and acts as the chief spokesperson of the MSU. They are elected annually during an at-large election for a one-year term by full-time McMaster undergraduate students, as outlined by the procedures in the MSU Constitution and Bylaw 10. The elected candidate will hold office from May 1 until April 30 of the following year. During their time in office, the President is a voting member of the Student Representative Assembly and the Executive Board, in addition to being an ex-officio member of all other MSU committees. Moreover, the President represents the MSU to the University, Hamilton community, and all levels of government.
