This is a course that is offered for music students only. To take it outside of music you have to have permission from Dr. Mitchel or Dr. Kinder and potentially have your grade 2 rudiments RCM. If you really want to take it you need to email Dr. Mitchel who is that academic advisor for School of the Arts.

I am taking it this summer so I can't tell you if it is easy but I can tell you that it is NOT offered to music students. (I guess this means it's somewhat easy :S hopefully )

Hopefully, it shouldn't be too tough. It's meant to be an elective as far as I know. I'm taking it this summer as well. Anyone knows where we can get the course outline?

I found the course outline for the winter session on Google:

http://www.labourstudies.mcm aster....nu-Jan2012.pdf

Ooops I just realized that's for labour studies 1c03, not for music 1c03...my bad :p

hmm it says that its an open course and it doesn't say anywhere about requiring permission to take the course. anyone know if its an easy course for people who've taken grade9-12 high school music in ontario?

and is there any composition involved?

This is an open class, anyone can take it except music students. As for easiness, if you took music throughout high school, and your teacher taught everything they were supposed to, you shouldn't have too many issues with this class. There's probably a little bit of composition involved but when I did my grade 2 rudiments I never did any composition. And Argentino is an excellent prof and a really nice guy who is always willing to help.
