Hi everyone, I'm Adam Nightingale. I'm a new member in the sense that I've only recently begun posting on MI, but old because I've had an account for several months.
My major is Social Psychology, partly because I like it and partly because I've maxed out my 1st year courses (like, prerequisites for other areas of study) and electives. I just finished my second year and did my first year at a little (1/20th the student population of McMaster) liberal arts institution called Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec. However, I'm actually from New Brunswick, but have some family in the GTA. Between 1st and 2nd year I had a stint in a traveling circus, or, wacky volunteer group (some call it a cult) called Katimavik, in which I lived and volunteered in Vancouver, Calgary, and Ottawa with people from all across the country.
I don't know specifically what I'll do with/after my degree, but I do know I want to work with people and do something somewhat hands-on (not necessarily mindless). Maybe I should have gone to college. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy university well enough, I just think that I got suckered into the idea that everyone should go to university. I just want to get my foot in the proverbial door, like everybody else.
As far as interests/leisure activities go, I guess they're the standard fare: hanging out, movies, music video games and sometimes even sports. On that note, I'm up (or down?) for making new friends and would gladly accept invitations to events. I've been meaning to go bowling at University Lanes all year, but every time I've made plans with someone to bowl, they had to cancel for one reason or another. I know what you're thinking, but no, I don't think it's because I'm unlikeable or that my breath smells or anything like that. In fact, at the risk of tooting my own horn I'd say I'm rather pleasant and easy to get along with, and tolerate difficult people well (i.e., put up with your crap). So if I haven't already scared you away, you can email me at
[email protected] .ca or text/call 289-880-6518. And for anyone who's tempted to give a prank phone call I say go for it. Try to be as funny as you can. I could use a good laugh, even if it's at my expense.
So, in conclusion, I'm sorry for writing you an essay but happy to have finally started using MacInsiders.
Cheers (especially with beers!
),
