So can someone explain exactly how all this is going to work? I do enough blundering through the day to spend an hour trying to coax a printer to spit something out...

You put money on your student card, when you print something you'll have to enter login to your McMaster account and it'll take money from your student card. That's my understanding from what I read.

Not sure if they are going to have a separate account just for the printers or not yet though.

Its a separate CMS. Take a look at this link to a FAQ that I was emailed a few weeks back. Answers most questions.

Seems easy enough then. I hope the account is separate. I don't want to be locked out because I forgot to pay 50 cents or something.

I'm pretty sure it's not going to let you print unless you have money on the account. So there is no need to worry about debt.
