So it seems removing the link to the Network from the top of the page was just the first step.

Facebook will soon be removing Network Pages from the site. Please keep this in mind when communicating with others on the Wall and on the discussion board. You can use Groups to connect with the people around you.

This sucks balls...groups are stupid as their only goal is member count. Networks were neutral ground....I could safely post comments and participate on my network page without giving a greedy group admin the satisfaction of controling an active group.

I wonder why? It doesn't seem like networks were a bad idea to me, it is a single page that fuses together all the important stuff for a particular school or region. Makes it easier to find stuff and get news/updates. Removing it seems silly. They must have decided to remove them due to abuse or spamming, only reason I can come up with.
