What NOT to Buy
As the time approaches to start buying things for residence or school supplies in general, there are some things that need to be pointed out. In my first year I bought of a lot of everything but in all honesty, there are so many things that you get from swag bags and clubsFest that you don't need to buy.
Examples:
Pens. (Everyone) - Career Services, MSU and numerous services give them out too!
Post-Its (Everyone)- I don't remember who but there are quite a few who give them out
Hi-Liters (Everyone) - I have a million high lighters that I've gotten for free from campus
Clipboards (Residence Only)- The Inter-Residence Council gives a clipboard to each student living in residence in their first week.
Calendar (Everyone)- The MSU gives out a giant one in the swag bags
Almanac (Everyone) The MSU gives out an almanac as well
Laundry Bag (Residence Only)- All of your MacPass swag is held in the laundry bag
Hand sanitizer (Everyone) - Campus Health usually gives it away
Compass (Everyone)- UTS? I think but don't quote me on that.
So save your money and don't buy these things! Also, add more to the list if you can remember what other things you've gotten for free =)

We got an agenda last year too. It came with the calendar and plastic mug.
Edit: or maybe it's called an almanac... >.<

Does everyone get the agenda? Cuz I was thinking of getting one from Titles, but I decided to wait. Is it enough, or should I get another one anyway?
And about the calendar, wall calendar?
By the way, thanks Nicole for the awesome post!

Not sure if everyone gets one but they have a lot of them. Just line up early ^-^
Yes, it's a wall calendar with 4 months (4 months each term) so it's really practical.

Yup, wall calendar and you can write on it with white board markers. Definitely buy white board markers-- soo good!
There are always more than enough of the agendas.

No, you get it in the student centre. You'll see tables set up with MSU stuff on it ^-^

The Almanac, mug and calendar come separately in a swag bag in the MUSC (where you were yesterday when you came to the IRC table). But they normally have over 10,000 I believe

I got a clipboard in first year as a SOCS kid (which I still use by the way... YAY for duct tape!) I'm pretty sure they still give them out in the MacPasses.
So, if you're a SOCS kid and you bought your MacPass, you'll probably get a clipboard as well.
