I have a few questions regarding housing, I hope that somebody will be able to answer them.

It is stated that there is a fixed number of available on-campus spaces for exchange students and that there will be a lottery if the number of applications exceeds this number.

Does anybody know how often this case occurs and how likely it is that I will have to look for off-campus housing?

I am asking, because assuming that I did not receive on-campus housing, I imagine that I would have to look for off-campus accommodation relatively soon. Is that assumption correct or can I wait until I have the answer from on-campus housing at the end of June?

Also I wanted to ask if there are many off-campus residences, which are renting out single rooms for one term on short notice, because then I could look for housing once I am in Hamilton at the end of August, which would facilitate the search a lot.
