If you need to take it because it's a legit requirement for whatever reason, they'll make room for you. Even if it's just an elective, but you express enough sincere interest, they'll open up a spot for you. They did it for one of my electives

Which elective was it? Apparently for English 1AA3 there's no way except waiting on Solar, and that seems impossible. Asked the English department's whatsit.
Should I try approaching the professor who takes the course directly/via email? I really really really (really) want to take this course! :(

If you have a real sincere interest in the course, its certainly worth trying to approach the professor. Just be sure to be respectful and go in without any expectations. The decision ultimately rests with the department, but if a professor goes to bat for you, you probably have a good chance of getting in. I'd recommend going and talking to them rather than sending an email. In person your interest in the course will come across better and you can answer any questions right away.

Great, that sounds awesome, thanks!
Btw, does anyone know the name of the professor who teaches this course/might be teaching it in the summer? I've looked through the master timetable and the English department's website, but didn't really find any info.
