If you want pdf's; typically resources such as masteringchem and webassign typically come with a pdf of the textbook.

Otherwise Google is your friends; also a Bay where Pirates live is also an option.

cheers

@OP: We can't help you, but Google can.
If he is asking for legal place to download textbooks, why can't you help him? You can't and/or don't even want to put in the efforts because you know that isn't what the OP wanted. We are all adults here, lets not play these childish games. Due to the insecurity of the pdf format, I have no seen a publishers using it as a venue for ebooks and hence I went with my original assertion that the OP wanted to pirate books.

Why do doctors continue to smoke cigarette even when they advised their patients not to? Are you going to express the same reaction?

I used to pirates when I was younger and didn't know the full extend of the repercussion it hold. Now that I do, I refuse to engage in such behaviours. Piracy hurt everyone, consumers and producers. Its like shoplifting at a store, if there is a increase in the incidents rate, their insurance goes up and so will their prices. Stealing is still stealing no matter how you want to put it.

Are you seriously defending textbook publishers? Those evil corporates that like to churn out new version with nothing new except scrambling the questions so students are forced to buy the new higher cost version instead of used book?

Now that people caught up to their scam, they are now telling profs to use online contents that expired after every semester. Like seriously, what the heck?

This is a new generation with the internet and easy accessibility to information. Do you really need a 200 dollars textbook to learn about first year calculus? Even when there is a vast amount of information available like Wikipedia, Khan Academy, and the like?

Toilet paper is a cost of life too but you can avoid it by just jumping into the shower real quick; same goes with textbooks.

OSAP often do not give you enough for living expenses+ tuition+ textbooks due to your parent's income or other factors. For people without parental support, spending 300 per semester (This is on the low estimate side) on textbooks is pretty detrimental to their finances. Even if someone chose to pirate, we shouldn't judge them because everyone has different financial situations. Plus people pirate all the time, I mean you MUST have at least know someone who downloads movies/music/games/etc using torrent or other methods. Some textbooks only need like literally 10 pages for the course (stats 2b03) and these textbooks are 100+ dollars!

Yes you are right. No posts that link to pirated media. But you can discuss. Try googling or torrent sites. Doing this helped me save some money on books I would never buy (stupid stats book $170 wtf) and also found solution manuals which helped me in my studies

^ Exactly. Of course links to websites are not allowed but giving advice is great.

Try the Bay where Pirates dwell; scribd is another source that sometimes has pdf's that are hard to find else where.

If you want cheap books; you can buy international editions of books which are 80%-90% cheaper than normal editions from what I have seen. The only difference is the ISBN and nothing else. abebooks is an example of a place where you can buy the books or try ebay/amazon.

Cheers
