physics 1b03 or 1l03
I took grade 11 and 12 physics in high school,
but I did physics 12 in summer school and so I
didn't learn all of the topics in the curriculum.

If i'm not very confident in physics but I want to
go to med school in the future, which physics
would be good for me to take?

Is there a disadvantage in taking 1l03 instead of 1b03,
and vise versa?

You should be taking 1B03. 1L03 is equivalent to grade 12 physics and doesn't contain labs. So it's very possible that some medical schools will not accept it.

But to be completely certain, you should contact the medical schools you are planning to apply to.

I took grade 12 physics in the summer of grade 11 and I found physics1B03 just fine.

Well a lot of second year programs require 1B03 so you might want to look into if the programs you're interesed in require it. It may be better to get it done now rather than having to take it during second year.

Most, if not all, med school require one full year of physics with a lab component. Physics 1L03 does not have a lab component so you couldn’t use it to fulfill your physics requirement for med school. The two physics courses you need for med school are: physics 1B03 and physics 1BB3/1BA3. These three physics courses have lab components and are suggested by the Faculty of Science if you are planning to apply to med school (I had the same question last year ).

Like the other users, my recommendation would be to just take physics 1B03. If you already have grade 12 physics (even if it is a summer school credit), you are pretty much prepared for the course. If I remember correctly, the first part of physics 1B03 was very straightforward (kinetic, one particle motion). If you keep up with the readings, do the practise problems and CAPA questions and get help when needed, you will quickly begin to feel more comfortable with physics.

Hope that helps!

I'd highly recommend that you take 1B03, and 1BB3, if you plan on writing your MCAT. It's easier to do well if you have a good solid foundation of physics knowledge, I don't think summer school physics offers that.
