Physics 1L03 - Textbook required?
Hey,

I am wondering how necessary the textbook for this course is. I will be taking this course next term, and I have not taken any high school physics course before. I ask this because from the reviews I have read for this course on this website, people say the textbook is unnecessary and that the tutorial and capa practice is more than sufficient in getting a good grade for the course.

What do you suggest?

The textbook is 110% a waste of money.

I had this class with Dr. Toppozini or whatever her name was, and we never used it.

I bought the textbook and never used it. Had it with Nejat if that makes a difference.

Lots of course you can get away with just the lecture notes, so it really depends on that (basically your prof). If you've never taken physics before, I could see you having problems in certain areas, but I've heard its an especially easy course. I'd buy the textbook used, and veryyy cheap, if you want to garuntee you have all your bases covered

The textbook for 1L03 is useless.

But for a great textbook reference, I suggest you get the Physics 1B03/1BB3 textbook instead. That one is actually worth it. And since you never took high school physics, having a great reference text might help you a lot.

I never took the course, but as with any course really I would recommend just attending class for a while, see how far you get without it and if you want additional resources then buy it if you like (or borrow it off some suckah who was unfortunate to simply purchase it and no longer has use for it)
