Physics gnereal questions/help
I have received several PM about question about physics courses and the physic major in general. As such I figured making a post so that everyone can see the answers might be beneficial for first years/physics major hopefuls.

So go ahead make my day...i mean ask me questions.

Sort of. Different courses, different order of material. The first 2 years I believe are similar in terms of material in the physics courses but things get a little bit different I imagine once you get into 3rd year.

Haven't taken eng phys so I can't be too much help in this area. But I do know that all engineers have to take certain engineering courses (that are non-physics related) that physics (science) majors never take.

Do you know anyone in the biophysics specialiazation? I have been thinking of going from life sci I to honours physics with the biophysics specialization because I really like bio and physics. I have heard no one mention it though so I don't know what it is like.

I really don't know not too many people take it.. Specialization look nice though if you plan to do grad school. Check out the undergraduate calendar. You can learn a lot about that specialization by comparing it to a regular honours physics.

There is some overlap, yes. For example, both physics, eng phys and medphys take the following courses:
Physics 2H04 - Thermodynamics
Math 3C03 - Math Physics I
Math 3D03 - Math Physics II

Other courses that both physics and eng phys often take together (but not required) are:
Physics 3MM3 (QUANTUM)
Physics 3BA3 and 3BB3 (electronics)

Besides these, both physics and eng phys majors take similar optics (and electromag, etc) courses (although not in the same class).

Hope that answers some of your questions.

I know there's been a couple unanswered questions made about this, so I thought I would ask on behalf of the people who made threads about it:

How is Christine Wilson as a professor? She appears to be teaching the 2B06 class next year. Teaches well? Easy/hard? etc.

Thanks!

Besides she does astronomy so she can't be that bad

How hard is physics 1B03/1BB3? This was probably a long time ago for you but still. How do you do well in physics generally?

From experience this past year 1B03 was tough, particularly the tests. I found 1BB3 too be much easier.
