Wear Something Pink on February 25th & Take a Stand Against Bullying
In 2007 two young male students of a Nova Scotia high school took a stand against bullying. The cause? A grade 9 male student was bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt on his first day of school, not exactly the way you'd like to remember your first day.
The two grade 12 students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, decided to take action. They went to the nearest convenience store and bought 50 pink t-shirts and tank tops to wear to school the next day--they called it a Sea of Pink Support. They emailed all of their friends, asking them to spread the word and wear something pink the next day. It caught on like wild fire.
Since then, the last Wednesday of every February has been considered Pink Day. So on February 25th wear something pink--anything you may have--and show your support. Bullying doesn't have to be part of any childhood.
