BUMP! :p

It seems like a lot of people are falling in the same quadrant, which is neat.

Lawley: I meant that reeves threw you off (talking about the x/y thing) by saying "I chose left"... it's nothing big, just an observation I made.

Ya most people who are into politics usually know where they are anyways. And its also funny because you also know where each question would put you depending on which answer you choose. And ya this is pretty accurate, I'm pretty much a moderate I think there are good things to take from all sides and bad things from all sides.

My result:
http://www.politicalcompass. org/fa...-1.62&soc=0.26

Edit:
Economic Left/Right: -1.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.26

Well I am highly surprised that there aren't enough Conservative(right wingers) on here! wayyy to many left wings :S

Maybe we aren't as diverse a community at Macinsiders as I originally assumed? Maybe the conservatives are socially different people ? :S Interesting....

Lulz. That was just a lame joke at her telling me to pick a side.

With differnet questions though, the results would be very different. I tend to be either really socialist or really conservative, which are opposing ends of the spectrum, depending on what's being asked. Going by the "dictionary definition", I'm more of a left-leaning centrist than a left/right-winger. But you'd never know it from this quiz.

People in post-secondary settings tend to be more liberal. At least at first. Ever wonder what happened to all the hippies form way-back? They're the retired business executive and nuclear scientists of today (with a few smelly, hairy exceptions).

I sort of think that some younger people tend to have political views that are extreme one way or another, which then even out as they grow older. The Left offers a great, ideal vision and so many people gravitate toward that, but get a bit more conservative once they're in a position where they must work jobs to support themselves, and find out about adult-scale taxes, amongst other things.

Everyone starts out idealistic and some stay that way, but more often than not people get somewhat selfish and insular. It's not completely something to be ashamed of, we have something like 500 000 years of evolution that saw us having to be this way in order to survive. Whether some degree of this way of doing things is beneficial to the current state of humanity remains to be seen.
