Psych 1X03 Help
Hey guys, I have some questions about our online quizzes every Friday.

1) Dr. Kim said that we are allowed to work on our quizzes together. How does that work? Do we all sit in a room, and one person does the first quiz, and then the other person does the second quiz?

2) If you open the quiz at the same time, will you have the same questions?

3) How difficult are the quizzes? I've read that they are very application based, but what does that mean? That the facts aren't important, it's just the concepts?

4) Any tips on how to do well on them?

Thanks for your help.

1) Since the quizzes are online, you can do them wherever you have internet connection.
It is common for students to get together and help each other answer the questions. Where one person may have a lapse in knowledge, someone else could know that missing information.
You can do quizzes all at the same time, or one person can do their first attempt, the next person does another attempt, etc

2) The quizzes are randomly chosen from a relatively large pool of questions. There is a possibility that two or more of you will have the same questions, but there is no guarantee.

3) Some students struggle, while others excel. It all depends on how well you understand the concepts.
It is not a "memorize and relay information" type of course. A lot of the time Dr. Kim will give you a scenario based on facts and you need to apply what you know to choose the answer that is most correct.

4) Make notes as you're watching the modules, and feel free to go hunting around for supplementary material. The more examples you are familiar with, the more easily you will understand the information taught in the course.

Hope this helps.
Good luck!

I also recommend posting these questions on the Avenue Discussion Board where a member of the instructional team can officially confirm things for you and provide more details or clarification.

Doing the quizzes with a group of people also doing the quiz at the same time will certainly improve your chances of scoring well on these quizzes.
Making detailed notes and having a thorough understanding of the material prior to doing the quizzes is very useful.

Another tip: IIRC, Kim has transcripts of the online lectures on the left, and it's searchable text, so when studying for quizzes and you're not sure about something in particular, you can skip ahead to the specific part of the lecture and retrack. If you fill out the notebook going along with the slides you should be good; the quizzes are not too taxing
