Yeah we didnt use them the handbook is very useful the textbook wasn't so but, they only told us we didn't need it after everyone bought it (and it was non-refundable).

The Handbook is very useful. Contains necessary information for some assignments. That changes annually. The text was useless and I don;t believe it changes..

Even though the Profs say that the handbook "changes" annually, the material was fairly consistent from year to year. You should be fine buying an older edition of the handbook - it'll be a lot cheaper too. As far as the textbook goes - it was needed to complete a few questions on the weekly quizzes for 1X03. It wasn't needed for 1XX3 at all - not for the quizzes nor for the exam. I'd wait a couple weeks into the course before deciding whether or not to buy the textbook. If you decide on buying the textbook, make sure it's of the latest edition. I'd recommend splitting the costs with a friend & sharing the textbook if your trying to save on money. ..The textbook was pretty worthless though last year.

I did not use my 1XX3 textbook at all. It's only supposed to supplement the modules.

There was a post on avenue regarding this:

"Please note that the Winter 2013 editions are fully updated to reflect course content changes. In particular, the topics of Psychological Disorders and Psychological Treatments will be covered in PSYCH 1XX3 this term. If you are using the previous edition of the course textbook for 1XX3 (Winter 2012), you will also need to consult the 1X03 Fall 2011 textbook for the chapters on Psychological Disorders and Treatments."
