Psych 3CD3 - intergroup relations
Hi MI!

I was wondering if anyone has taken this course with Ostovich? I'm planning to take it next year so was wondering if anyone could let me know the difficulty of the course and if it really is as interesting as it sounds.

Thanks!

I hear that Ostovich's short answer can be brutal but she said she was making them clearer

I've taken social psych with her before and her tests weren't easy but definitely do-able. Apparently she's becoming a more difficult prof which sucks cause she teaches the majority of the interesting social psych courses.

I took this course with her last year. I wouldn't say it was easy, but it was comparable to social psych. The tests used to be long answers, but she changed it to short answer/ MC (much like Psych 2C03) to make it easier to mark. She's known for her difficulty, but the tests are doable if you learn to recognize her testing style.

In terms of content, it's more in-depth look at stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination from Psych 2C03. While this content was interesting, it seems to be very repetitive especially in the later part of the course.

I heard the same but after taking 2C03 this year I found the opposite. She mentioned a greater focus on MCQ for recent years and that's unfortunate because class averages for MCQ were always about 10% lower than the short answer section.

I love her classes but I'd rather audit them in the future...

Have either of you taken Human Sexuality with her? If so, was it easier than this one? Definitely seems interesting but heard her class average was really low last term.

When I took intergroups, the tests were all essay questions. I found them pretty hard compared to the short answer questions that she has in social psych. I think it had to do with the fact that it was sort of like, right everything you know about "this". @[email protected] Having said that, it's not impossible to do.

I also took human sexuality last summer and she changed it from being completely essay questions to SA and MC like in social psych. Found it much easier to do because for SA questions, its clearer for what she wants and how to get the marks for it.

Both courses were really interesting though and she's an awesome prof! Oh, and human sexuality fills up really fast
