Hey everyone. I'm thinking of taking positive psychology next year with Dr. Day, and I was just wondering if anyone could give me their opinion of it. I don't think there is a review for this course yet. I've taken personality with him before, and I found that the quiz bank really, really helped I probably only did well because I practiced from the questions. I know that Positive Psychology does not have a quiz bank, but did you find that the material was very difficult?

Hey,
I took Pos psych with Dr.Day in the winter term of 2012 and I found the course really interesting. A bit of the material covered is common sense in the way you know all of it but its the way its put in words make you really acknowledge it. Def a good course to take and I am pretty sure if you read the textbook (which is ALOT smaller than personality's textbook) and you like pay attention to all his lecture notes, you should be fine. He does give a bit of practice questions for the first midterm but then since alot of people did well, he did not give it for the second midterm. If you can access some old midterms, he def reuses questions from there too. Since it is a fairly new course, there is not enough questions to make a question bank for but maybe by this year he can. I recommend taking it cause not only is the course do-able but it is also interesting.

Thanks for the review . I found the material interesting for this course, but was the exam pretty hard? I found the personality exam was a bit tougher than his other midterms, not sure why. Have you taken any other Dr. Day courses before? I'm thinking of taking Forensic Psych with him as well, but I don't think it's a very popular course?

I want to do forensic psych too and I know a lot of people who want to take it as well, it is popular! But it's only offered every alternate year and I don't think it's been offered for a lot of years yet.
I've done abnormal psychology and attitudes psychology too with him, they both were great courses. You could give them a shot

I'm planning on taking Abnormal, but Attitudes isn't offered this year :(. I can't seem to access Dr. Day's intropsych webpage, where he has all his courses. Do you know if Forensics has a quiz bank?

I have tried accessing it, but the page doesn't seem to load for me. Maybe I'm using the wrong link. Do you mind pasting your link here? Thanks

Yeah his website is intropsych.mcmaster.c a but I think it's down for the summer cause I've tried accessing it a couple of times too but no luck. He does have a quiz bank for forensic though.
Oh right, I forgot that attitudes is an alternate year course too, it was pretty good and really easy in terms of textbook questions because it was short and so simple. Abnormal's horrible when it comes to textbook questions but I'd still recommend it
Hopefully the readings for forensic won't be too bad...

I'll just have to rely on some luck for the abnormal questions I guess :(. Maybe I'll take attitudes and positive in 4th year . Was the material interesting, at least for Abnormal?

I LOVED the material for abnormal and it's honestly been one of the courses that I've been able to use the knowledge of to talk to other people about life...it's awesome knowing about the disorders out there and I was fascinated by each and every one of them. Then again, that could be just me. I even loved reading the textbook even though it was way too long. If you're interested in mental disorders, I'm sure you'll love it. Abnormal was also one of the courses where I loved Day's scenarios and "life experiences" he'd tell us about.
Attitudes was great too and I might take positive too next year. I pretty much love all of Day's courses and find them all interesting because they're just in the part of psychology that interests me. If you do think you'll be interested in them, you probably will be and you'll do well in a course you actually enjoy learning about, most of the time.
