Psycology And Calc??
Hey.
I am going to be attending Mcmaster as of September 2009. I plan to do my undergrad in Psycology Neuroscience and behaviour, however I heard that it requires you to take a calculus course during first year if you did not take it in grade 12. Now if this is true, can anyone give me some sort of idea as to the difficulty of this course? In addition to this, I have also heard that psyc has been previously taught online. Is this also true for 2009 classes? If so, it would be greatly appreciated if i can get some feedback as to how people found this method of teaching.
Thanks in advanced
any feed back will be greatly appreciated !

both first year psychs are taught online... personally, i like it this way because i tend to fall asleep in lecture halls and i find them distracting. It can be time consuming though, because you have to play the lecture and pause to write notes. First term psych was alot easier than second term psych in my opinion. First term dealt with social psych, learning, personality, language, ie. all the fun stuff. Second term psych was way more scientific and topics included development and evolution and focused heavily on the brain and its interaction with the senses.

If you didn't take Calc in Grade 12, you will have to take Math 1K03 in first semester, which is equal to a Grade 12 Calc course. Then to be admitted to Psych Level II you have to take Math 1M03, which is a continuation off of the Grade 12/1K03 level stuff. I'm in that class right now, and it is not hard if you keep on top of your work. I took my first Calc in Grade 12, and if you did too it honestly would be helpful to keep your notes from highschool and use them as a refresher before 1M03 starts. If you didn't do Grade 12 Calc then you will have to do math all year first year, which has both its advantages and disadvantages... Good luck!

I think you can take another math then 1M03, but both require Grade 12/1K03 courses as a prerequisite

I have a buddy who took gr 12 calc equivalence at mcmaster... well I forget how she did all together but she got 100 on midterms... so I guess easy... gr 12 calculus is not so hard (same difficulty as advanced functions I would say,) so maybe similar to that!

Normally I would scold you for being a grammar Nazi over a typo, but seeing as the OP spelled it wrong more than once, I have to agree.
