Questions about Prerequisite waivers
Hey,

I am currently in second year life science program and want to transfer to either the bio co-op or Honour Bio, and there is 1 course BIO2C03 I cannot take just because i am not in the honour programs, is there any chance I can get a prerequisite waiver? should I contact the biology department or the prof directly?

Thanks

I'm not sure if they will grant you a waiver to take an honors class. That being said, you could always try contacting your faculty. You never know.

It's worth a shot. If it's a requirement for a program I don't see how they can deny you though. It's like denying the right to education... isn't it?

Except he isn't in the honors program so it's not a requirement for him. Courses like that tend to be exclusive to people within the program. At least, that's how it works in Commerce. But you never know until you try.

I had the same problem last year and I contacted both the department head and the professors directly and was actually not granted a prereq. waiver for Bio 2C03, and am now having to take it in 3rd year which is a pain because its a prereq for several 3rd year courses...

that being said, it may be worth a try because this year they are running the course both 1st and 2nd term, and i guess that opens up more spots

i did, however, manage to get a waiver for chem 2OA3, also a course that requires you to be in an honours program, so it is possible to do it.

hi im going into second year humanities and have just registered for french 1k06 on solar but it says im ineligible to take the course!!! so now i have to first take 1z06 then 2z06 and then finally 2m06 which is the only one out of the three that will go towards my minor....so this kind of sets me back with regard to completing my minor in three years! does anyone know if there is anyway i can write some sort of placement test or something that will allow me to skip 1z06 and just take 1k06??

You should contact the French department about that.
